An Invitation of “Ancient” Sports Games from Jinsha Site Museum to Celebrate its 9th Anniversary
On Apr. 16, the 9th anniversary of Jinsha Site Museum is about to come. Reporter learns that there will be “new tricks” again in this year’s “birthday”. Co-operating with Sichuan Museum and Chengdu Sport University Museum, Jinsha Site Museum holds the “Photo Exhibition of Ancient Chinese Sports Cultural Relics” and “Ancient Sports Games”.
China, as the country with ancient civilization in the world, has created the sports culture comparable to ancient Greek during thousands of years, including classical sports forms (ancient Chinese football, ancient Chinese polo and ancient Chinese golf) and sports games still popular today (archery, wrestling, dragon boat racing, lion dance, martial arts and steering). Jinsha Site Museum creates a chance for citizens to understand and appreciate the sports culture of thousands of years by means of photo exhibition from Apr. 16 to May 8.
In addition to photo exhibition, from Apr. 16 to Apr. 18 (10:00-11:30 am), the “Ancient Sports Games” is held by Jinsha Site Museum with activities combined with Jinsha cultural characteristics and ancient Chinese sports for citizens.
It is learned that “Ancient Sports Games” is divided into two parts: performance and interaction. The performance part incorporates health preservation gymnastics named “Wuqinxi” to imitate the shape of five animals. While the interaction part includes ancient Chinese football, wood shoot, Touhu, diabolo, archery, shuttlecock and Jirang in the form of checkpoints game, all used to be ancient entertainments but now enjoyed by local citizens.
