Cultural Heritage Day | A Bond between Chengdu and the Southern Silk Road
The Silk Road is a road of suffering, blood and tears as well as a road of glory and dreams. On this ancient road, Chinese and foreign envoys come and go, businessmen from all over the world strive for profit, religious believers give up their lives to preach, and the eastern and western civilizations communicate and collide here, jointly promoting the process of world civilization.
It’s widely known that there is a world-famous Silk Road by land across the Eurasian continent to the Mediterranean region; by sea across the Pacific Ocean and Indian Ocean, by east to Japan, and west to the east coast of Africa; but it’s rarely known that there is also a Southern Silk Road, which shares a special bond with Chengdu, the hub of the ancient road.
June 10, 2017 is the 12th Cultural Heritage Day in China, with the theme of “the Belt and Road and Cultural Heritage”. Today, let us tell you the story about ancient Shu and the Southern Silk Road.
